Obituary: Anna Hovan, 94, of Stratford

Anna Hovan, age 94, of Stratford, died peacefully at her home on Monday, May 6, 2013. She was the widow of William Hovan.

Mrs. Hovan was born in Simpson, Pennsylvania to Theodore and Mary Skasko.

She was retired from Electronic Components.

Mrs. Hovan loved gardening and taking care of her home. She enjoyed traveling and shopping. Mrs. Hovan was a devoted member of Holy Ghost Russian Orthodox Church for many years.

She is survived by two sons, Edward Hovan and his wife, Susan, of Stratford and William Hovan, Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Dunedin, FL; one sister, Lillian Houde of Florida; one brother, Demetrius Skasko of Florida; four grandchildren, Glen Hovan, Amy Taylor, William Hovan and Amanda Hovan; seven great-grandchildren; one goddaughter, Jean Meisenheimer of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by four sisters, Alexandra Critelli, Mary Wasik, Olga Shawley and Eva Jackson; and four brothers, John (infant), Michael, Wasil and John.

Funeral services were held on Friday, May 10, 2013 at Holy Ghost Russian Orthodox Church. Interment at Union Cemetery, Stratford.
