Civil War Day at Boothe Memorial Park

Friends of Boothe Memorial Park will host the annual Civil War Day, an authentic Civil War reenactment and encampment, on Saturday, Sept. 29, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Boothe Memorial Park, Stratford. Admission is free and the event is open to the public.

Civil War Day is part of the Celebrate Stratford series of events. Members of Company F, 14th Connecticut Volunteer Infantry, dressed in their full Civil War regalia, will provide visitors a glimpse of everyday life of a Civil War soldier. Soldiers will partake in drills, firing demonstrations, a 19th century baseball game, and other period activities. Artifacts on display will include soldiers’ personal equipment, an officer’s tent, Civil War medicine and a firearms exhibit.

“Civil War Day is one of the many ways we have an opportunity to reflect on the tremendous and significant sense of history we have right here in Stratford,” said Stratford Mayor Laura R. Hoydick. “I thank the Friends of Boothe Memorial Park for the great effort they have put into making this event a continued success. I urge everyone to come out and bring their families for an informative and fun experience.”

Stratford’s 2018 Civil War Day is sponsored by AMEC Construction.
