Stratford Theater was home to the premiere of the artistic dance, Raising the Barre Workshop & Competition on Sunday, April 14. Thirty young aspiring ballerinas, ages 8-12, took to the stage and learned the fine points of classical ballet from master teacher, Linda Giancaspro; whose credits include Carnegie Hall Studios and Broadway Dance Center.

The dancers learned the famed Clara Variation from the Nutcracker Ballet, living out a little girl’s dream of pirouettes and princes as they danced with a ballet bear as their partner, later given to them as a gift. Giancaspro instructed them to use their imaginations and dance with the bear as if it were a Nutcracker Prince. The day ended with a competition of choreography prepared by the dancer’s hometown studios.

Dancer, Makayla Beach is a Stratford resident.
