Softball: Bunnell loses in extras to unbeaten Notre Dame

Notre Dame of Fairfield scored two runs in the eighth inning to post a 10-8 victory over Bunnell High in Stratford on Wednesday.

With the win, Notre Dame improved to 7-0. Bunnell is 0-7.

Bunnell had built a 7-1 lead after four innings.

Helped by three errors, the Lancers had five hits and scored six runs in the sixth.

Bunnell regained the lead in the bottom of the frame.

Katelynn Root singled and Sara Moore’s squeeze bunt scored pinch-runner Marianna Forte.

Notre Dame scored one in the seventh to force extra innings.

Lucy Grant singled in the eighth and Michaela Luk followed with a two-run home run.

Bunnell’s Meg Uhrynowski had three hits, including a home run, drove in three runs and scored two.

Kylie Zack had three hits, two RBIs and scored a run.

Emma McNamara chipped in with two hits.

Luk had three hits for Notre Dame.

Mackenzie Dobbins had two hits and a run.

Grant had three hits and a run.
