Plane incident at Sikorsky called 'minor'

An incident involving a small plane at Sikorsky Memorial Airport Thursday morning, Feb. 21, is being characterized as “minor” by Bridgeport Police.

The small plane skidded off a runway and struck a snowbank, according to Bridgeport Police. Bridgeport Police have jurisdiction because even though the facility is inside the borders of Stratford, it is owned by the City of Bridgeport.

There were no injuries, and damage was called “minor.” There was no fuel leak after the impact.

The Bridgeport Fire Department responded, per protocol.
