A Friday evening fire caused heavy damage to a home of Country Club Circle home.

Stratford firefighters responded to a fire at about 6:40 p.m. at a ranch-style home at 20 Country Club Circle. Firefighters saw a large volume of fire coming from the rear of the house. Under the command of Assistant Chief Tim Brennan, fire crews were able to contain the fire to the rear deck, kitchen and parts of the attic.

Fire Marshal Brian Lampart said the home’s owner told investigators she had been preparing dinner and using the propane grill on the rear deck. Shortly thereafter a fire erupted causing heavy damage.

No injuries were reported and four adults in the home had to be relocated.

Lampart said the fire’s cause is under investigation.

Firefighters from Bridgeport and Milford provided station coverage while Stratford firefighters worked to put out the fire.
