Local woman arrested for credit card theft

Melissa Conlogue, 25, of 650 Light Street, Stratford, was arrested in Fairfield on Dec. 10 on charges related to credit card fraud, police said.

According to the report, Conlogue stole a credit card from a car in Stratford on July 6, used the card at Stop and Shop grocery stores in Stratford and Fairfield, and then attempted to use it to buy an iPad at Game Stop, on Black Rock Turnpike in Fairfield.

An alert Game Stop employee became suspicious about the card, and called police when Conlogue was unable to provide back-up identification matching the cardholder’s name.

Conlogue left without purchasing the iPad before police arrived at the store, which provided surveillance video.

Conlogue was charged with criminal attempt at larceny, credit card theft, illegal use of a credit card, identity theft and criminal impersonation.

Bond was set at $5,000.
