Stratford police remain vigilant after Newtown shootings.

Stratford Police are responding with caution in light of this morning’s shooting in a Newtown elementary school. “We’re putting an officer at every school,” said a police spokesman. “We’re doing our best to keep people calm.”

The shooting occurred Friday morning, Dec. 14, at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown. While some school districts closer to Newtown, and including Newtown, were on lockdown, Stratford Schools were operating under a normal schedule.

Reports from people at scene indicate that an adult at the school has been killed. A teacher was shot in the foot and some children suffered minor injuries.

Schools in Newtown and Bethel remained on lockdown throughout the day.

The Internet is being flooded with contradictory information regarding the number of casualties and status of the situation.

Reports on the number of shooters range from one, who was reportedly killed, to two, to three and several other rumors.
