Cecelia Mary Makucevich

Cecelia Mary Makucevich, 82, a Fairfield for 57 years, wife of Stanley Makucevich (Ret. Fairfield Fire Dept.) for 60 years, died Feb. 8, at home. Her son, Michael Makucevich, and his wife, Patricia live in Stratford.


Daughter of the late Stephen and Mary Dominko Markoya, she was born and raised in Bridgeport.

Mrs. Makucevich was an employee of both Columbia Records and General Electric before becoming a hairstylist. Later, she owned and operated Powder Puff Beauty Shop in Black Rock.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, sewing, and reading. She also loved animals.

Besides her husband, survivors include her sons, Thomas Makucevich, of Fairfield, Daniel Makucevich, and his wife, Michele, of Portsmouth, R.I., Michael Makucevich, and his wife, Patricia, of Stratford; two grandchildren, Danielle and Matthew Makucevich; one sister, Rosemary Markoja, of Fairfield; and several nieces and nephews.

She also was predeceased by her daughter, Mary Makucevich; and siblings, Stephen and Edward Markoja, Dorothy Morton, Jeanette Porter.

Services are Saturday, Feb. 11, 11:30 a.m., Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, Fairfield. Visiting hours, Saturday, 9:30 a.m. until time of service. Private burial in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
