Josephine Malinko Kreta

Josephine Malinko Kreta, 95, of Stratford, wife of the late Stephen Kreta, died Jan. 30, in St. Vincent’s Medical Center, Bridgeport.


Mrs. Kreta, a homemaker was born in Scranton, Pa. to the late Nicholas and Nancy (Konopelska) Malinko and was a longtime area resident.

She was a lifelong member of the Carpatho Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist in Bridgeport, where she was a member of the Seniors and the Mothers and Daughters Club.

Survivors include her son, Stephen Kreta and his wife, Barbara; a grandson, Stephen Kreta and his wife, Laura; a great-grandson, Nicholas, all of Maryland; her longtime friend and companion, Bill Lovanio; and several nieces and nephews.

Services are Friday, Feb. 3, 9:15 a.m., Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford, and at 10 a.m. in the Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Greek Catholic Church of St. John the Baptist Church, 364 Mill Hill Ave., Bridgeport. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Stratford. Visiting hours, Thursday, 4-7 p.m. Panachida at 4:30.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Church.
