Stratford firefighters were called to two fires within an hour of each other Monday, Feb. 6.
The first, at 605 Second Hill Lane, was reported around 3:30 p.m.
Firefighters and investigators were focusing on a damaged area behind siding on the front of the house, prying away boards and digging into nearby wood chips and mulch.
Smoke filled the house, Assistant Chief Tim Brennan said.
A building inspector was called to Second Hill Lane.
While firefighters were still at the scene on Second Hill Lane, they were summoned to a shed fire behind 122 King St.
"It was really a blaze," passer-by Jim Bova said via a Twitter message.
"It was going," Brennan said after firefighters had knocked the blaze down.
Heavy damage was visible to the shed and its contents.
King Street was blocked at Broadbridge Avenue and Barnum Avenue, but reopened to traffic shortly before 5:30 p.m.
More details will be posted as they become available.
