Square One hosts The Good Doctor

Restaurants around the Stratford Theatre will offer specials during the Square One Theatre production of The Good Doctor.

‘The Good Doctor’ on call at Square One
Square One Theatre concludes its 22nd season with Neil Simon’s comedy The Good Doctor, derived from a collection of comic vignettes by Anton Chekhov.

In one vignette a working-class man sneezes on the back of his rich boss’s head at the opera and can’t stop apologizing. In another, a father takes his son to a “house” where the son will be initiated into the mysteries of sex, only to relent at the last moment, leaving the boy more perplexed than ever. In another sketch, a crafty Casanova sets his amorous sights on a friend’s wife while other vignettes are concerned with frightened governesses and freelance faux suicides.
Follies return to Bunnell May 18-20

Follies 2012: Raise Your Voice! will take the stage at Bunnell High School, 1 Bulldog Blvd., Stratford, May 18-20.
The cast includes Bunnell High School student Monet Monterroso, and alums Marc-Andre Roy and Amy Craw.
Stratfords of the World unite Sept. 13-19
When a local delegation returns to the Stratfords of the World reunion on Prince Edward Island in September, it will be the first time they see their neighbors honored.
Councilman Matt Catalano plans to be in attendance at the next gathering of Stratfords, Sept. 13-19 in Canada, which will end with the Hugh and MaryLou Catalano Memorial Concert.
Stratford singers need votes in TV talent show

After two months, four students at Stratford High School created three arrangements to perform in MSG Varsity’s Talent Show to be named the best in the tri-state area. They are counting on votes from the community to have them move along in the competition. The first show airs this weekend.
“We’re a girls a cappella group that have been together since the beginning of the school year,” said Samantha Feliciano, a sophomore. They are a student-run group that has no one leader. It’s a lesson in making music and working together.
“We all collaborate in the process,” said Mary Tourigny, a junior.
Richter Uzur duo returns Saturday

The Grammy nominated Richter Uzur duo returns to Stratford Center for one show at the First Congregational Church on Saturday, April 21, at 4 p.m.
Local artist makes Stratford Library debut

Journal 2010, “intuitive process paintings” by Stratford artist Donna Osterby-Brien, is the March exhibit at the Stratford Library.
Born in Stamford, Osterby-Brien recently returned to Connecticut after living in New Jersey for the past 16 years.
