Kids publishing workshop

Publisher David Wilk will host “Publishing for Everyone” for children ages 8 to 14 Thursdays in November and December at 4 p.m. Children will learn the steps involved in publishing their own book from cover design to editing to content. At the end of the class, children will complete a published book to take home. Children should plan to attend all six sessions in order to participate.

Stratford Library hosts book fair

The Stratford Library Children’s Department will host a bookfair fund-raiser at Barnes & Noble of Milford from Nov. 21-26. Support the library by making purchases in store or online at bn.com/bookfairs using the library’s ID# 11392883. On Friday, Nov. 21, from 6-8, library staff will be at Barnes & Noble for a royal party with games and activities. Free and open to all families.

The Stratford Library Children’s Department will hold a special “Party at the Palace” Bookfair Fundraiser at Barnes & Noble of Milford, 1375 Boston Post Road, with a percentage of purchases benefiting the Stratford Library Children’s Department. The Stratford Historical Society hosts Harriet Beecher Stowe’s Uncle Tom’s Cabin, presented by Emma Palzere-Rae Friday, Nov. 21, 7 p.m., Christ Church Hall, 2000 Main Street. Harriet Beecher Stowe’s anti-slavery novel was published in 1852. The novel sold 300,000 copies within three months and was so widely read that when President Abraham Lincoln met Stowe in 1862, he reportedly said, “So this is the little lady who made this big war.” The event is free and open to the public.…
