William B. Meyer hires account executive

William B. Meyer Inc. has hired Sherry Boyd as an account executive.
Boyd will expand the company’s records management service to companies in the legal, medical and banking industries.
   

Stratford Library hosts workshops for entreprenneurs

The Stratford Library, in conjunction with Connecticut’s Small Business Development Center, will sponsor workshops for fledgling entrepreneurs who want to learn about starting a business in Connecticut.

The Small Business Development Center is a collaboration with the U.S. Small Business Administration, the Connecticut State University system and private partners throughout Connecticut. The SBDC recently honored Stratford Library Reference librarians Ingrid Davis and Katie Courcey for their efforts in organizing this series of entrepreneur workshops at the library.

 

   

WBDC hires business specialist

Brenda Burton-Seldon of Stratford recently became a business specialist at the Women’s Business Development Council (WBDC).
Seldon works in both the Shelton and Stamford offices and has more than 20 years of experience in corporate banking, credit analysis, commercial real estate, and commercial lending to WBDC. She will assist qualified clients with accessing capital to successfully grow their businesses.
   

Barnum Financial Group hires financial services representative

Barnum Financial Group has announced that Johnny Wright has joined the firm as financial services representative.
Wright has a master’s degree in marketing. He holds his series 7 and 66 securities registrations and is licensed to sell life and health insurance.
   

Stratford company receives state small business grant

A Stratford company will keep 10 employees and add two more after receiving a grant from the state’s Small Business Express program.

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy announced Friday, April 13, that five small businesses around Connecticut qualified to share $1.02 million through his “signature small business program,” created as a part of the bi-partisan Jobs Bill passed during last year’s special session.

   

HomeServices of America acquires Prudential Connecticut Realty

HomeServices of America Inc., a Berkshire Hathaway affiliate, announced Wednesday that it had acquired Prudential Connecticut Realty.

Based in Wallingford, Prudential Connecticut serves the entire state, with more than 1,400 sales associates in more than 50 offices. Prudential Rhode Island Realty, a division of Prudential Connecticut, has two offices serving the communities of Westerly and Watch Hill.

In 2011, Prudential Connecticut Realty had $2.5 billion in sales.
