The Stratford Public School calendar was shortened from 182 days to the state-minimum 180 days at the Feb. 25 meeting of the Board of Education, so that the last day of the 2012 – 2013 school year is now scheduled for June 25. It had been scheduled for June 27.
Earlier in the month the Board of Education eliminated the scheduled April vacation to make up days lost to Storm Sandy and the February blizzard.
The board’s action of Feb. 25 considers the following contingencies: if one, two or three more days of school are canceled for weather or other unforeseen reasons the school board would add back onto the schedule June 26, June 27 and, as a last resort, make Good Friday, March 29, a half-day.
If all of those three days were needed, the schools would still be out by June 27 and make the state minimum of 180 school days.
