Man charged with attempted murder in random stabbing

Fedele Poppa, 26, of Stratford was taken into custody by Stratford Police on Feb. 25 in connection to the stabbing which occurred on Canaan Court on Feb. 24.

Poppa was charged with criminal attempt to commit murder, assault in the first degree, breach of peace and possession of under 4 oz of marijuana. He was held in lieu of a $250,000 bond for court March 7.

Police say it appears that Poppa had randomly chosen the victim of the assault and that several witnesses stated that he was seen walking through the apartment complex acting “strangely.”
