Bulldogs capture win SWC titles

Terrence N’Dabian earned the 55-meter dash title and Isaiah Arthur-Brown captured the long jump crown, when the Bunnell High boys team placed third at South-West Conference Indoor Track Championships held at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven on Saturday.
Bunnell finished behind team champion Weston and New Fairfield and ahead of New Milford and Brookfield.
N’Dabian ran a 6.64 to best Bethel High’s Josh Barrera (6.72)
Stratford High’s Warren Jones was fourth in the 55 dash with a time of 6.86.
Arthur-Brown’s 6-0 jump was better than Pomperaug’ of Southbury’s Josh LeBron (5-8).
Bunnell’s 4×200 and 4×400 relay teams placed second with times of 1:37.52 and 3:35.74, respectively.
Bunnell’s Corey Cusano was fourth in the pole vault at 9-6.
Bunnell’s 4×800 relay team was fifth in 9:10.53.
Stratford’s Ryan Yearwood was sixth in the 55 dash (6.90).
Bunnell’s Ian LeComer was sixth in the 300-meter run (38.70).
Stratford’s girls team placed 10th and Bunnell’s 11th in a meet won by Weston High.
Stratford’s Alisha Excellent was second in the shot put with a throw of 32-2.5.
Bunnell’s Taylor-Jean Guillaume was fifth in the shot put at 29-4.
Bunnell’s 4×200 relay team took fifth with a time of 1:57.56.
Bunnell’s Paige LeComer was sixth in the long jump at 14-3.
Boys swim
Bunnell/Stratford lost to Sacred Heart of Waterbury, 97-83, on Tuesday.
Cameron Soares was best in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:02.32 and in the 500 freestyle at 5:51.69.
Hunter Mitchell-Adams captured first in the 100 freestyle in 53.44 and the 100 backstroke in 1:02.46.
Bunnell boys hoop
Bunnell bettered the 20-point mark in every quarter when the Bulldogs posted a 95-65 road win over New Fairfield on Friday.
Matt Nolting scored 23 points to lead the way, as Bunnell took a 23-17 lead after one period, and extended it to 45-29 at the half and 65-46 after three quarters.
Issac Vann scored 21 points, Tim White 19 and Claude Joseph 10 for Bunnell (13-2).
Ryan Pittman scored eight points with seven assists and seven steals.
Vann and Joseph had 10 rebounds each.
Stratford girls hoop
Stratford lost to Bethel High, 45-25, in Stratford on Friday.
Julia Genetti led the way with seven points for the Red Devils (2-13).
Joanne Pierre Louis scored six points, Danielle Lapierre five and Genesis Torres four.
Margaux Mahoney and Lapierre made 3-pointers.
Bunnell girls hoop
Bunnell secured a 55-52 victory over visiting New Fairfield on Friday night.
Jess Bogdwicz scored 26 points, 10 assists and 10 rebounds to lead the Lady Bulldogs (6-11).
Erin Koletar made three 3-pointers and finished with nine points.
Bunnell led 22-8 after one period and 32-17 at the half.
Lauryn Kostopolous finished with nine points, and Bunnell took a 44-37 lead into the final frame.
Shannon Hofmiller scored five points and led the way with 10 rebounds.
Kostopolous five steals, as Bunnell kept its playoff hopes alive.
Bunnell couldn’t keep up with Notre Dame when the Lancers scored a 52-35 SWC victory in Fairfield on Wednesday.
Bogdwicz scored 20 points lead the Lady Bulldogs versus Notre Dame (13-2).
Kostopoulos scored seven points.
