To the Editor:
My late uncle Ed Hargus referred to (frequent Star letter writer) George (Mulligan) as “my son” for they shared the commitment to making the community a better place by making suggestions. One also has to take account his impairments due to his physical disabilities. We need to be cognizant of the need not to be judgmental until we have walked in his shoes and looked through his eyes.
In closing let me say that the Town Hall is now a safer place for those using the handicapped facility on the first floor.
There were problems with the door and more important the emergency lanyard which needed to be replaced. The problems existed for months placing the safety of the public and employees at risk, unable to call for help. I alerted the Health Department who passed on the information to Public Works. It points out the need for those responsible for the upkeep of sanitary facilities both public and private to do their jobs.
People like my “cousin” George deserve no less. Thank you.
