Woman arrested for embezzling $25,000 from moving company

Milford police arrested a Stratford woman for embezzlement on Monday, Feb. 4 after investigating a complaint they received in November regarding funds allegedly embezzled from Collegian Movers, located in Milford.

Investigation led to an arrest warrant being issued for Bernadette Volikas, 36, of Stratford, who was employed by the company at the time.

Volikas is accused of embezzling approximately $25,000 from September, 2012 to November, 2012.

Investigators discovered that Volikas had fled the area and was staying in Arizona.

The Yavapai, Ariz., sheriff’s office assisted the Milford police by taking custody of Volikas  and transporting her to Connecticut.

Volikas is charged with first-degree larceny and computer crimes.

She is being held on a $100,000 bond.
