On January 13, 2013 Kathleen Minahan, 58, of Stratford, daughter of Marie Birge Minahan and the late William Minahan passed away after a long courageous battle with breast cancer.
Kathleen grew up in Stratford and graduated from St James and Stratford High School.
Kathleen had many interests including sailing, skiing, hiking, gardening, and cooking.
A talented chef, she founded Tallahans Cafe in Arnold, California and the Pioneer Grille in Chester, Massachusetts. In addition to her creative cooking, she had many artistic hobbies including soap making, paper mâché and tie dye.
She leaves behind her husband, Adamu Maru of Stratford and a stepdaughter, Angela Maru of Stockton, CA, brothers, Tom Minahan of Stratford, John Minahan (Emily) of Boston, MA, sisters, Mary Ellen (Philip) Dooher of Needham, MA, Jane Minahan, Terry Minahan and Patty Dowler (Bob), all of Stratford, CT, and Betsy Mclaughlin (Michael) of Reading, MA, as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and a special uncle, Monsignor George Birge.
Calling hours will be at Pistey Funeral Home on Main St in Stratford on Wednesday, January 16 from 4 to 8 pm. There will be a family memorial service on Thursday at 10:30 am.
