Alcover, Paige light it up

A total of 347 points were scored recently in the Varsity Division of the Sterling House High School Basketball League — and two players on the Panthers accounted for 13 percent of those points.
Ricardo Alcover and Jamaine Paige each tallied 23 points to lead the Panthers over the Hi-Flyers, 80-41.
Shabbir Jawad had 16 points for the Hi-Flyers.
Team Uno improved to 4-1, good for second place, with a 39-18 win over Everything Well Done. Dana Smith paced EWD with 11 points.
Big B and the Rest, led by Maxwell Breiner’s 16 markers, was the Dream Team’s worst nightmare in winning a 70-39 decision.
In a defensive struggle, the Wetnets topped the Supersonics 37-23.
In Junior Varsity action, Team Lockdown edged the Tropics 38-33.
Bradford DeGregorio led the winners with 15 points, while Joseph Catapano tossed in 11 points for the Tropics.
The Thunder earned its first win of the year, defeating Stratford’s Finest 55-32.
Paul Defelice had a big game for the Thunder with 20  points. Bryce Hudas scored a dozen for Stratford’s Finest.
Two games are scheduled tomorrow night at the Flood Middle School gym.
At 6:15, in the Varsity Division, Everything Well Done meets Big B and the Rest. That will be followed by a Junior Varsity tussle between the Thunder and the Dream Team.
