The Stratford High wrestling team defeated Old Saybrook-Westbrook and lost decisions to Waterford High, Daniel Hand of Madison at Morgan High in Clinton on Saturday.
Mike Butler opened the 59-23 victory over OSW with a 21-second pin at 126 pounds.
Brian Evan followed with a fall in 1:02 at 132 before OSW followed with wins by technical fall and a pin to close within 12-11.
Richard Francois pinned his 152-pound foe in 3:59 and Brandon Murphy stretched Stratford’s lead to 24-11 with a pin in 3:03 at 160.
OSW prevailed by pin in forfeit at 170 and 182.
Stratford’s Jack Branco was awarded a forfeit at 195 and Lance Jamison earned a fall in 2:20 in the heavyweight division.
Stratford took a 36-23 lead into the lower weights, where Matt DiConstantino won by forfeit at 106, OSW won by fall at 113, and Mike LaPia posted a 16-1 win by technical fall to close out the scoring.
LaPia posted a 5-2 decision versus Daniel Hand for Stratford’s only points.
Butler had a 2:23 pin, Evan won by 3:22 fall, Francois scored a pin in 2:15 and Murphy won by 24-second fall in a 54-24 loss to Morgan.
All the points in the Waterford match came via forfeits.
