Robert S. Tellalian, Esq., 91, of Stratford, formerly of Easton, beloved husband of 60 years of the late Jean Hamilton Tellalian passed away peacefully in his home on Christmas Day joining his wife who predeceased him on November 23, 2012.
Born in New Haven the son of the late Aram H. Tellalian, Sr. and Virginia Vartanian Tellalian he was raised in Black Rock graduating from Bassick High School and later, Yale University.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II and participated in the Battle of the Bulge, where he received the Soldier’s Medal for Valor. Mr. Tellalian received his Law Degree from the University of Connecticut School of Law. He practiced law with his late brother The Hon. Aram Tellalian, Jr. at Tellalian & Tellalian from 1949 until his retirement.
Bob was very active in the community. He was an Officer and Trustee of several Charitable Foundations in the local community. He held memberships on many boards and groups including Goodwill Industries, The Council of Churches of Greater Bridgeport where he served as President, The Bridgeport Area Foundation, was Secretary of the Easton Senior Center Board of Directors and was very active in the Greater Bridgeport Symphony, serving as Chairman of the Board for over 25 years.
Bob was an active member of the United Congregational Church in Bridgeport for over 70 years where he sang in the Choir from 1938-2006 and served as Church Moderator and Chairman of the Board of Music.
Bob loved to sing and was a member of the Eastonaires Barbershop Quartet. He delighted in playing Santa for the Goodwill Industries Christmas Party for many years.
He is survived by his son, Robert S. Tellalian, Jr. and his wife, Christine, of Salisbury; a daughter, Elizabeth Tellalian Gonzalez and her husband, William, of Easton; five grandchildren, Curran and Alex Tellalian, Shawn and David Smith and Sarah Gonzalez; a brother-in-law Thomas H. Hamilton and his wife, Gertrude, of Trumbull, and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the United Congregational Church, 877 Park Avenue, Bridgeport. Interment was private in Mt. Grove Cemetery.
