William Duke Grierson, age 73, of Shelton passed away on Wednesday December 26, 2012 at St. Vincent Medical Center.
Born in Leominster, MA he was the son of the late Baron and Lorna Duke Grierson.
William was the owner and operator of Monarch Accounting Supplies in Stratford for forty years retiring in 2008. He was a graduate of Stratford High School class of 1957 and served in the U.S. Army following graduation.
William was a baseball umpire for the Babe Ruth and High School leagues in Shelton. He was a member of the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference and was a volunteer for the A.A.R.P. helping seniors with their accounting. William played trumpet and played lead trumpet in Jazz Groups. He also played at the American Shakespeare Theater.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 52 years Darlo Wahl Grierson, his devoted children, a son, Todd W. Grierson and his wife Karen E. Grierson of Taunton, MA, a daughter, Pamela J. Sinko and her husband Victor Sinko 2nd of Shelton, a brother, Paul B. Grierson and his wife Debbie of Wisconsin, six loving grandchildren, Michael Sinko, Nicholas Sinko, Deanna Cramphin, Micaela Grierson, Zachery Grierson and Tyler Grierson, a great grandson, Prescott Cramphin and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, James B. Grierson.
Burial was held on Thursday January 3, 2012 at 11 a.m. in Union Cemetery Stratford.
