John Rehm is back home and making awesome beer

Stratford native John Rehm has come home to realize a dream.

Stratford native John Rehm joined the Two Roads Brewing Co. as assistant brewmaster back in August, and he couldn’t be happier to be back home. After a dozen years in the Philadelphia area, having been brewer-in-chief at the Philadelphia Brewing Co., brewer at Yards Brewery, and head brewer at John Harvard’s Brew House, Rehm was ready to come home. “I went to college down there and that’s where the brewing jobs were,” Rehm said. “But my wife, Jessica, is from Stratford, too, and we always said that if an opportunity presented itself, we’d come back.” Having two children, Rehm wanted to be close to family. “I suppose I would have been excited to work in a place like this had it been anywhere in the States,” said Rehm. “But for it to have been in Stratford, I couldn’t be happier.” Two Roads partners CEO Brad Hittle and brewmaster Phil Markowsi were both impressed with Rehm’s brewing background. “John brings a high level of expertise,” said Hittle. “And we’re excited for him to be making great beers in his hometown.” Markowsi praised Rehm’s brewing skills and said that together with his background in the technological aspects of brewing, Rehm would make a great addition to the brewing team. The 2000 graduate of Bunnell says that the Two Roads team has done a good job working out the kinks. “We’ve only been brewing since early October now, and we’re getting things where we want them to be,” Rehm said. “We’re making some awesome beer.”
