Stratford Library hosts Survivors Swing Band Dec. 14

The Stratford Library will present the Survivors Swing Band, a seven-piece group of “seasoned” jazz musicians, on Sunday, Dec. 14, at 2 p.m., in the Lovell Room. The concert, which is free and open to the public, is made possible through the Vin Corda and Claudia McCoach Funds.

A Connecticut-based jazz group comprised of retirees, the Survivors Swing Band boasts 13 instruments (piano, guitar, banjo, clarinet, cornet, among others) and a vocalist. The band easily re-creates the music of the nostalgic 1919-1954 dance band swing era. Entering the Connecticut music field in the fall of 2011, the Survivors currently have nearly 150 successful live performances to their credit. For the Stratford Library performance, the band will include some seasonal standards as well as popular swing favorites.
