Stratford police arrested a gas station attendant on Thursday, Dec. 6 after they received a complaint that he was seen scratching off the bar code section of lottery tickets while working, keeping the winners and placing the losing tickets back in the ticket bin.
The attendant, Muhamad Almarsi, 26, worked at the Citgo gas station on Barnum Avenue and the allegations against him were corroborated by the Citgo manager.
Almarsi was taken into custody and charged with sixth-degree larceny after police said they found a total of four $20 tickets damaged and removed from the ticket bin.
Bond for Amarsi was set at $500 for court on Dec. 20.
