Dog park rally coming to Stratford Town Hall

After three years of fundraising and several dead-ends working with local government, the Stratford Dog Park Action Committee (SDPAC) is making a final attempt to show local leaders that the nearly 3,000 registered dog owners in town deserve an off-leash dog park in Stratford.

The SDPAC has organized ‘Come. Sit. Stay!’ — a public demonstration by people and dogs, to be held on the lawn of the Stratford Town Hall on Monday, April 14 at 6 p.m. “We want to show all of the voting members of the Town Council how many residents would benefit from having a town dog park,” said Carissa DeBernardo, SDPAC president.

The SDPAC has raised all the funds necessary to build the park through private donations and a nearly $7,000 grant from The Petco Foundation. “We need to show progress on the park’s construction before the end of April or we will lose our Petco Foundation grant funding” said Matt DeBernardo, SDPAC vice-president. “We need the Town Council to select a location and vote now.”

SDPAC urges all two- and four-legged citizens to join the rally.
