Barnum Duckpin Lanes bowling facility is closing, and its last day in business will be Sunday Oct. 27, according to a phone answering message and a manager on duty on Oct. 23 who declined to give his name to The Star on Oct. 23.

The manager said the restaurant inside the 1465 Barnum Ave. facility closed Sunday Oct. 20.

The manager said that the believes the business was losing money in recent years, especially after renovations were made, and party bookings are presently down.

Attempts to reach the business owner, Leonard DiNardo, were not immediately successful.

The Town of Stratford economic development office has been in touch with Mr. DiNardo and is working with him to find a suitable tenant as quickly as possible, according to Stratford Mayor Harkins’ Chief of Staff Marc Dillon.

This is unfortunate, Greg. Barnum Duckpins has been a Stratford landmark since I was a kid. We were taken there as cub scouts. It’s a sign of our changing times.
